Talvez tenhas ouvido música jazz desde sempre ou talvez só agora estejas a descobrir o lado swing do jazz, mas sabias que esta música se dança?
Swing Dancing 101 vai dar-te uma amostra do que é dançar com diferentes músicas swing. Temos diversos temas todos os meses em formato de módulo para que possas explorar este estilo de dança com o compromisso de apenas um mês! Escolhe os temas que queres fazer ou faz o ano inteiro de módulos para teres uma ideia melhor deste mundo da dança swing!
Inscreve-te mensalmente com ou sem um par. Os pares não são fixos nas aulas e vamos experimentar os diferentes papéis na dança swing – leader ou follower. Por isso não estamos preocupados em manter um equilíbrio estrito nestas aulas entre os papéis. O nosso objetivo é apenas pôr-te a mexer e a dançar jazz!
<< SWING DANCING 101 • DANCING IN 6-COUNTS >>
A música swing é baseada em ritmos de 4 tempos e o Lindy Hop dança-se com passos de 8 tempos, de 6 tempos, até de 4 tempos, criando grandes possibilidades musicais! Podemos dançar apenas com movimentos de 6 tempos. Esta dança chama-se “East Coast Swing” mas, no fundo, são os passos de 6 tempos do nosso grande Lindy Hop! Este módulo é dedicado a passos que ocupam 6 tempos e movimentos musicais para resolver os padrões de 4 tempos da música. Vamos dançar os ritmos “quick, quick, slow, slow” e “step, step, triple step, triple step”. Serão esses os mantras do mês para o ritmo entrar no corpo e poderes dançar com formas e movimentos muito variados dentro de 6 tempos!

Sobre danças a par na Swing Station: Nunca haverá um equilíbrio perfeito entre leaders e followers nas turmas. A Swing Station assume essa realidade. O normal é haver mais meninas que meninos que querem dançar e querem ser followers. Sendo assim, nas aulas, para além da troca normal de par, implementaremos a “magical rotation” em que as pessoas do papel que tem mais pessoas inscritas (normalmente followers), num dado momento da troca de par, fazem de leader, depois de follower e depois seguem para o próximo lugar. Isto para ninguém ficar nunca parado na aula!

Maybe you’ve heard jazz music your whole life or maybe you’re just discovering the swinging side of jazz, but did you know you can dance to swing jazz?
Swing Dancing 101 is all about giving you a taste of how to dance to different types of swing music. Every month we have different themes in a module format so you can explore this style of dancing with only a month-long commitment! Pick and choose the themes you like or do the whole year of modules and get a better feeling for this swing dancing world!
Sign up each month with or without a partner. You’ll be changing partners anyway and even trying out the different roles in swing dancing – leader or follower, so we’re not worried about keeping a strict balance in this class between the different roles. Our goal is just to get you dancing and grooving to swing jazz!
<< SWING DANCING 101 • DANCING IN 6-COUNTS >>
Swing music is based on 4-count rhythms and Lindy Hop is danced in 8-counts, 6-counts, and even 4-counts, creating great musical possibilities! We can choose to only dance with 6-count movements. This dance is called “East Coast Swing”, but in fact these are simply the 6-count moves of our great Lindy Hop! This module is dedicated to moves we do in 6 counts, as well as musical movements to solve the 4-count patterns of the music. Let’s dance in “quick, quick, slow, slow” and “step, step, triple step, triple step” rhythms. These will be our mantras of the month in order to get the rhythm inside so you can dance with a variety of movements and shapes in 6 counts!

• Requisites: A smile on your face, an enjoyment of jazz music and a desire to learn to dance and have fun! Being in good physical shape is highly recommended for Charleston dancing!
Partner: If you don’t have a partner, you can still register, though you’ll need to wait for confirmation of your spot before making payment.
About partner dancing at Swing Station: There will never be a perfect balance between leaders and followers in the classes. Swing Station assumes this reality. It’s normal to have more ladies than men who want to dance and want to be followers. Thus, in classes, in addition to the normal changing of partners during the class, we will implement “magical rotation” in which people of the role that has more people registered (usually followers), will at times, when changing partners, dance as a leader, then as a follower and then move on to the next partner. This is so that we always have everyone moving in class!
Want to try? If you’d like to simply try the first class and you’ve never tried a class at Swing Station before, you can do the first class for just 5€, which will be discounted from the monthly fee if you decide to stay.
